The domain
Family property for three generations, it is in the know-how of the Burgundian tradition that the reputation of Domaine de la Feuillarde has been built.
The Thomas family knows the value of its heritage. They have known how to enhance the value of their heritage, developing on their estate, plot by plot, a rich palette of the great growths of Burgundy.
On this estate, the family house is nestled in the middle of the vines, we know how to cultivate with love the identity of a terroir and offer the best of its soul.
The estate is regularly awarded prizes for the excellence of its wines.
"I like clean, pure wines that express minerality, with fruity and floral notes, without excluding a certain fatness." Lucien Thomas, owner.
Terroir and breeding
The vines, 70 years old, grow on a Jurassic clay-limestone soil of quaternary formation, stony and filtering. The plot is exposed to the south and south-west with maximum sunshine on the hillside.
Respectful viticulture within the framework of a reasoned protection. Manual harvesting, reception of the grapes by gravity, static cold settling and selection of press juice. Pneumatic (soft) pressing. Alcoholic fermentation in barrels for 50% of the volume of the cuvée, vinification for 11 months in fine oak barrels, no addition of external yeast. 100% malolactic fermentation, aged on fine lees with regular stirring.
Tasting notes
Golden reflections, green, very fine and floral aromas, white flower, violet. This excellent Saint-Véran has a great amplitude in the mouth and is tender with a vanilla and spicy extension. An exceptional vintage. This style of maturing reveals all the complexity of the ripe grapes by bringing out the vanilla nuances of the wood, while the other part of the wine is kept in vats to preserve the fruit aromas. It is a wine that is both powerful and very fine.
