The domain
The Thevenot le Brun et fils estate is located in the heart of the Hautes Côtes region in the commune of Marey les Fussey, 7 km from Nuits Saint Georges and 10 km from Beaune. For more than 5 generations, the winegrowers have succeeded one another in this family estate whose history is linked to that of the Hautes Côtes.
The vineyard is spread over three appellations: Hautes Côtes de Nuits, Hautes Côtes de Beaune and Bourgogne Aligoté. The plots are all located within a radius of 2 km around the estate and have been cultivated for several generations. Practicing sustainable agriculture, very close to their terroir, Nicolas Thevenot and his team produce wines of exceptional quality, regularly awarded prizes in leading competitions.
Terroir and breeding
Plots of land in the communes of Marey les Fussey, a gently sloping area. The vines are 25 years old. The grapes are harvested at the end of the harvest period when they are fully ripe. Fermentation begins in vats with temperature regulation. Fermentation ends in barrels of 5 wines and maturing continues for 1 year. Maturing in old barrels brings fatness and complexity without woody notes.
Tasting notes
This is an aligoté that can be kept for a few years. It can be drunk young and fresh. The freshness of the aligoté and the more complex maturing process make it a wine that goes well with many starters. One can appreciate it alone in the aperitif or with a tomme of goat.
