The domain
The Thevenot le Brun et fils estate is located in the heart of the Hautes Côtes region in the commune of Marey les Fussey, 7 km from Nuits Saint Georges and 10 km from Beaune. For more than 5 generations, the winegrowers have succeeded one another in this family estate whose history is linked to that of the Hautes Côtes.
The vineyard is spread over three appellations: Hautes Côtes de Nuits, Hautes Côtes de Beaune and Bourgogne Aligoté. The plots are all located within a radius of 2 km around the estate and have been cultivated for several generations. Practicing sustainable agriculture, very close to their terroir, Nicolas Thevenot and his team produce wines of exceptional quality, regularly awarded prizes in leading competitions.
Terroir and breeding
This pinot beurot comes from three parcels located in the commune of Marey les Fussey. The terroirs of the Hautes Côtes are particularly well suited to this grape variety. It fully expresses its powerful aromas while keeping a good finesse.
Alcoholic fermentation begins in vats with temperature control that remains below 20°C in order to keep all the fruity character of the musts. The wine is put into barrels during fermentation and the sugars finish slowly in the cellar. The wine is aged in 100% new barrels. This important woodiness blends very well with the aromatic power of the grape variety without unbalancing it.
Tasting notes
This Pinot Beurot is a powerful and complex wine with aromas of white fruits and fresh mushrooms that blend perfectly with the woody notes. On the palate the attack is round and the finish long and powerful. In the first years the woodiness is very present. After 2 to 3 years, the aromas melt and we obtain a powerful and complex wine.
This powerful and aromatic white wine will accompany dishes of character: chicken with morel mushrooms, filet mignon. It can also be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif or with foie gras.
